Meniki and Hinoki are both called Taiwan Cypress which is a rare tree species growing in the altitude between 1,300-2,600m where there is the heaviest rainfall in Taiwan and is also called Cloud Forest due to the foggy and cloudy climate all year round. Cypress consistently grows in an almost invisible speed each year. Some scholars consider cypress forests as the oldest ecological system in Taiwan. These endemic conifer gymnosperms have been evolving for millions even billions years to be regarded as “living fossils”. Our Presidential Suite was made of Taiwan Cypress after eliminating all kinds of difficulties during the process from drawing the blueprints to determining the architectural materials. It took over six years to collect materials and two years to construct. Approximate 130,000 timber volume was used within eight years to build this cypress mortise structure. The entire house releases strong Phytoncidere to make you feel situating in a thousand year woods and being embraced by the vitamins in the air. The independent large structure accommodates family members from three generations and is equipped with an oven, study room, kid’s room, master bedroom and attic. The broad yet elegant courtyard is surrounded by trees to be part of the Mother Nature.
